MARY MILLAR DECEMBER EXHIBITION AT GALLERYZERO
Portland, Oregon – December 5, 2008 -- GalleryZero: Purveyors of Koool Art presents the work of artist Mary Millar in a special reception the evening of December 5 starting at 6 PM to 10 PM; the exhibit runs through the month of December.
A native of the Pacific Northwest, Mary attended the Art Institute of Seattle and was chosen to participate in Seattle’s Bumbershoot Festival in 2000 and 2003; her works have been exhibited in Chuck Jones Gallery, Laguna Beach and she has a significant background in commercial design.
Mary’s work is an energetic and eclectic collection that expresses a fascination with mid-century Madison Avenue advertising with an eye for the profane and satirical, made celluloid canvas. Mary’s subject matter extends from her humorous and socially conscious parodies to paintings that convey the farther side of everyday life albeit through a sarcastic and sardonic lens. The suburban neurotic nightmare is explored with graceful application and a dynamic palette.
Mary Millar’s exhibition will continue from December 5 to December 31, 2008, showing Tuesday through Friday, 11 AM to 6 PM and Saturday from 11 AM to 5 PM. Sunday and Monday viewings are available by appointment. For more information, contact curator Randy S. Young at 503-381-5831 or email to randy@thegalleryzero.com.
